I recently discovered thrifting online on Instagram and honestly, after this, I don't think that could I could go back to physical thrift stores anymore! I love that all the items are curated and most probably washed beforehand (I still disinfected and washed it before wearing though!) But I thought the over all experience was not bad at all. Of course the thrill of digging and finding that one treasure isn't the same. One thing about me though is that before this pandemic I was already a little bit germophobic so going to physical thrift stores now will be an even bigger hygiene issue with corona thrown into the mix. So for now, I am super happy and content with doing it online. I actually when a little nuts in September and got quite a bit of stuff so I was thinking I would do these in two parts. I'm featuring ten items that I got and 2 outfit ideas per item so that's 20 different outfit ideas in this post! Check it out!
Dresses
1. Brown vintage dress
I found this at the section of the online thrift shop that was past its sell date. I thought it was so vintage looking and I loved it even more when it arrived! I styled it with some neutral stilettos and just kept it simple with white sunglasses for my accessories and putting my hair up in fun bun. For the second outfit, I threw in a pop of color with my yellow marigold mules from Sala Chaussures.
2. Dark navy dress with rose patterns
I honestly thought at first that I wouldn't be able to wear or style this because it looks really dated but I discovered that with some accessories and the right shoes, this dress looks really cute! It's the perfect summer dress!
3. Yellow printed vintage dress
This is probably one of the most brightly coloured and printed combination I've owned in my life. This find is also probably one of my favorites! I love the yellow and I've been craving a bright or light yellow top or dress so I can wear purple earrings with it and I finally achieved that dream!
4. Long blue and beige printed dress
I was super excited when I saw the photo of this dress because I thought it had the loveliest prints and color combination. Plus I loved the look of the collar because it looks so vintage. This dress is probably from the 80s or 90s at least! However, when it arrived and I put it on, I thought it has tendencies to look dowdy and again dated. I tried accessorizing it like so below and I thought it look cute, but I'm still not really convinced and seriously considering letting this dress go. What do you guys think? Should I keep or let go?
Skirts
5. Pleats within pleats pleated skirt
How awesome is this skirt? First of all, it has this gorgeous color - which I'm not sure how to describe : is it a super light teal or turquoise or mint? I've never had this color before so I knew I had to get it! Second, it's pleated but when you look closely there are actually also some tiny pleats embedded in the bigger pleats! So pretty and unique!
6. White printed skirt
This other skirt was one that I absolutely HAD to get. I feel like this skirt gives off such a European summer vibe! If I could, I would totally go to the South of France now just so I can wear this skirt! It's pretty and decadent and even with its colorful prints, I believe it's still super versatile.
7. Polka dotted skirt
I believe I had just found one of the most perfect polka dotted skirts! One print I am absolutely crazy over is polka dots and this skirt hits the spot!
Tops
8. White Top
I am absolutely loving the detail of this white top! I also really love the cropped length and I think this would look perfect with all my high waist bottoms. I was actually thinking it would look great with that white printed skirt too!
9. Neutral padded top
I normally stray away from shoulder pads but a few of the tops I got from my haul had them and I found that they weren't so bad after all! I think they add a little bit of a very "fashion" aspect to the outfit. This top was actually a last minute addition to my haul and I am so glad I went ahead and got it! It's super versatile!
10. Printed top
I was semi doubting this top as I thought at first it might be one of those hard to style ones but as with all the other tops, upon arrival, I found that I loved it! I think it can be styled in so many ways. I can't wait to experiment and play dress up some more with this!

I love every single one of these items, IMO they are all keepers! You have a good eye for great style. I am on a no shopping diet because my wardrobe is full, which is okay because it is full of alot of wonderful items that I have thrifted (not 0n-line) and some home-grown vintage so I am having fun shopping my closet. ReplyDeleteJust adore that blue and beige dress! I have not really been a big thrifter, but maybe I would if I could do it online. That sounds way easier than going through a bunch of clothing racks! You did great!

You got some really cute finds in your haul! I particularly like the yellow dress! We have a few opshops (thrift stores) doing online selling here but few of them do clothes, they focus on books or furniture or expensive things. Not a lot of them continue to do it with the restrictions being relaxed now.
ReplyDeleteHope that you are having a lovely weekend :)
Away From Blue
Oh my goodness, I adore your style! What great preloved finds! I love thrift shopping but I hear you on the germophobe bit! I get a little weird about it, too, even before covid. I actually get more concerned with bugs than germs when I go into thrift shops! Ick. In any event, clearly thrifting results in some pretty fabulous finds! I was thinking that one beige and blue dress that you are uncertain about...what about layering a sweater on top and some boots for a cold weather outfit? I think that would be really cute. Or even adding a leather jacket to it to make it more modern. It is a really pretty dress the way it is, too. But there are endless possibilities with it, I think. I would keep playing with it before giving up on it!
ReplyDeleteGreat post. This was super fun!
